|The administration of US President Joe Biden decided to resume the construction of protective structures on the border with Mexico, Fox News reports.
The publication notes that the immigration crisis continues to get out of control, and local residents and politicians have put pressure on Washington to stop the flow of illegal immigrants crossing the border. As a result, the US Army Corps of Engineers will resume construction of a 21.5-kilometer section of the dam in the Rio Grande Valley.
It is emphasized that we are not talking about the continuation of the construction of the wall and its expansion, which were stopped in February, but about the repair of the dam to protect against flooding, but it will also be equipped with protective barriers. It is planned that construction will resume in six weeks, and in another six to nine months a concrete wall will be installed.
According to the US Customs and Border Protection, 178,622 migrants were recorded crossing the border in April — a record for a single month in 20 years.
US President Joe Biden stopped funding the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico in early February, three months later, the Pentagon also announced an end to spending on its part.
